The round profile of my StropBaton™ ensures the contact point is the same during use regardless of the angle the baton is held, making it easy for you to maintain a consistent angle without requiring a flat surface to perfectly align a strop. My pocket knife strop offers more control which is helpful for a more detailed stropping process for the smaller edges that are found on pocket knives.
 
I started using a flexible strop on my leather working tools but couldn't find the consistency, extra degree of sharpness, quick return to a high performance level and extended time between full sharpening that I was looking for. This is what led to the development of StropBaton™. I use American Made vegetable tanned leather from Hermann Oak Leather Company that is finished in a way that has not changed much in hundreds of years. The benefit is strong, firm and relatively low stretch leather and the result is a handmade and long lasting sharpening tool that you might be able to hand down to the next generation. The leather is vegetable tanned but not dyed and the hardwood handles come in three colors; black, natural and walnut .
 
I experimented with using an adhesive to secure the leather to the baton but found it difficult to properly secure and to stay secured after field trials and rigorous use. Instead, five stitches/inch (55 total) are hand-stitched in every StropBaton™ using Ritza 25 Tiger Thread, imported from Germany, which is known for its strength and durability due to finely-braided 100% polyester fibers. Because of the exposed stitches, caution should be used when using StropBaton™ to ensure that your blade edge does not come into contact with the stitches which might cut them. 
 
StropBaton™ comes from a pet, smoke and vape free studio and will be protected inside a sealed poly-bag and shipped in a cardboard box.
